Millwood Bowling Club: Code of Conduct
1. Core Principles
All members, guests, and visitors are expected to uphold the values of integrity, respect, and sportsmanship. Whether you are playing a competitive league match or enjoying a Sunday social, your conduct reflects on the reputation of Millwood Bowling Club.
2. On the Green (Lawn Bowls Etiquette)
- Respect the Game: Always observe the rules of World Bowls and the Welsh Bowling Association.
- Greens Protection: Ensure correct footwear is worn at all times to protect the playing surface. Avoid "dumping" bowls or causing unnecessary damage to the banks and rinks.
- Sportsmanship: Applaud good shots from both teammates and opponents. Avoid distracting players while they are on the mat.
- Punctuality: Arrive at least 15 minutes before scheduled matches to assist with setting up equipment.
3. In the Clubhouse & Social Events
- Inclusive Environment: Millwood is a place for everyone. Bullying, harassment, or discrimination of any kind (based on age, gender, ability, or background) will not be tolerated.
- Responsible Drinking: Members must consume alcohol responsibly. Excessive intoxication that leads to disruptive or aggressive behavior is a breach of this code.
- Respect for Staff: Please treat our bar staff and volunteers with patience and courtesy. They are the engine room of our club.
- Property Care: Respect the clubhouse facilities. Please clear your table and report any accidental damage to a committee member immediately.
4. Representing the Club
When playing "Away" at other clubs in the Vale or beyond:
- Maintain the highest standards of behavior as an ambassador for Millwood.
- Thank the hosts and follow their specific local club rules.
5. Social Media & Communication
- Do not post content that could bring the club into disrepute.
- Keep internal disagreements private and resolve them through the proper committee channels rather than on public forums.
6. Compliance and Grievances
Failure to adhere to this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, ranging from a formal warning to suspension or expulsion from the club, as determined by the Management Committee.
